Attaching a database from a crashed machine

Hi SAP Gurus,

We encoutner an issue when starting up our SAP ECC with recovery SQL DB.

Recently our SAP ECC server crashed due to motherboard failure. We were not able to recover the OS after the hardware replacement so we have to reinstall the OS and with the SAP ECC(with similar configuration) from scratch.

We managed to recover the SQL datafiles and logfiles from the SAN storage and proceed to attach the datafiles back to the SQL server. The attaching of the database from SQL studio was successful and we were able to view the contents after randomly checking.

The problem comes when we try to startup the SAP ECC service. The workprocesses fail to start and the log has the following errors:

C  ERROR: -1 in function CheckCodepageType (SQLExecDirect failed) [line 16778]

C  (208) [42S02] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'DBPROPERTIES'.

B  Connection 0 opened (DBSL handle 0)

C  ERROR: -1 in function StartSelect (execute) [line 10636]

C  (208) [42S02] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'SVERS'.

C  ERROR: -1 in function StartSelect (execute) [line 10636]

C  (8180) [42000] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not be prepared.

B  ***LOG BZA=> table SVERS      does not exist on database            [dblink#4 @ 1301] [dblink  1301 ]

I've check the database for the objet DBPROPERTIES and SVERS and they are still there.

I suspect it could be due to some permission issues but can't quite confirm (my user IDs are all domain IDs so it's the same IDs)

Please advise if there's any procedure for such cases we must perform in order for it to work?

Please share your thoughts. Thank you.

Regards,
